Wildlife Habitat Registry
ABOUT US
The Wildlife Habitat Registry arose from recommendations made by participants at a USFS Get Wild Partner’s meeting. The USFS Get Wild Partners is a loose collection of wildlife conservation groups interested in working together to produce more effective and efficient conservation results
For many years, non-profit organizations dedicated to wildlife conservation have partnered with the Forest Service in habitat protection, restoration and enhancement work on public lands.Partnerships build positive relationships among participants, leverage funds and services from other sources, and are essential to landscape scale
management of natural resources. In addition to contributions to on-the-ground work, a number of national conservation groups routinely meet with the Forest Service to discuss agency priorities and projects of mutual
interest.
The Wildlife Habitat Registry provides tools and information to support collaboration between, State and Federal Agencies, Conservation Groups, and private land owners. The registry provides a place where participating groups/individuals can document and share information, as well as search for information they need.
The site was developed through the help of many groups and individuals. The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation has supported the project from the beginning with two separate rounds of grants. Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Wildlife Management Institute, and Geodata Services Inc, Inc have been key in turning ideas into reality, and creating the foundation for this website. The project has also received both time and money donation from the Founding Partners. The Founding Partners have entered data, as well as provided feedback for the site.
